Get in my belly. This recipe is so simple - 5 ingredients. When you taste it you can't believe how little effort goes into making it! It also makes the BEST gravy. Let's goooooo.
Ingredients
1 3-5lb. beef chuck roast
5-6 + Tbsp. Kitchen Bouquet browning and seasoning sauce...Slather it on, be a bit heavy handed
salt
pepper
1/2 - 1 cup beef broth
Gravy
Reserve juices from crockpot when the roast is fully cooked
2 Tbsp. flour
2-3 Tbsp. butter
Directions
Heat a prepared (oiled) cast iron skillet to medium high heat. Place beef broth in crockpot, turn crockpot on the low setting. Slather roast with Kitchen Bouquet on all sides. Generously season all sides with salt and pepper.
When the skillet is hot but not smoking, place the roast in the pan. Get a nice sear on all sides.
Place the seared roast into the crockpot, and cook on low 6-8 hours, depending the size of your roast. May turn it over half way through cook time.
Prepare the gravy - melt butter in a sauce pan on the stovetop, add flour until it's a smooth consistency and let cook for 1-2 min. Slowly add reserved juices from the roast, whisking until desired gravy thickness.
